Will the future JASSM missile be a hit or a miss? (13 Photos)
This is the Lockheed Martin's AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile). It is a semi-stealthy long-range, 2,000 pound missile that has a single vertical tail and is guided by a global positioning system. In the initial testing of the weapon, there were many failed test in which the JASSM did not hit it's target. However, after further work on the missile, it proved successful in hitting 15 out of 16 targets in testing. This led to the acquisition of 3,700 JASSM's by the U.S. Air Force but the Navy has decided not to purchase it's initial planned 450 JASSM's. As for the Air Force, the JASSM will be carried by a wide range of aircraft, including: the F-15E, F-16, F/A-18, F-35, B-1B, B-2 and B52 are all intended to carry the weapon. theBRIGADE wants to hear your opinion on this future weapon.
