쿠웨이트, 장거리 전술수송헬기 'EC-725 Caracal' 획득 추진

 

쿠웨이트가 에어버스헬리콥터의 장거리 전술수송헬기인 'EC-725 Caracal'의 구매를 포함한 군수거래의 가계약(provisional agreement)을 프랑스와 체결한다고 IHS Jane이 2015년 10월 22일 보도했다.

​프랑스 국방장관 Jean-Yves Le Drian이 2015년 10월 21일 쿠웨이트를 방문하는 중에 EC-725 Caracal 24대와 6대의 추가 옵션이 포함된 'LoAs(letters of acceptance)'를 전달한다고 프랑스 정부가 발표했다.

프랑스 소식통에 따르면, 이 'LoAs(letters of acceptance)'는 쿠웨이트 해군이 보유한 8척의 P-37 Combattante-1 고속정, 르노(Renault) 경장갑차 등의 중기-수명연장 업그레이드 등이며 총 금액은 USD28억불 정도 된다.

Kuwait has signed provisional agreements with France that include an order for Airbus Caracal helicopters.

French officials briefed journalists during a visit to Kuwait by French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on 21 October that the letters of acceptance (LoAs) covered 24 Caracals, with an option for another six.

The sources said the LoAs also covered mid-life upgrades for the Kuwait navy's eight P 37 (Combattante 1) fast attack craft, and Renault light armoured vehicles, and are collectively worth around EUR2.5 billion (USD2.8 billion).
