미해군, 잔략SLBM 'Trident-II D5' 2발 시험발사.

미해군의 '전략 시스템 프로그램(SSP:Strategic Systems Programs)'국은 잠수함발사 전략탄도미사일인 'Trident-II D5' 미사일이 1989년 이후 156번째와 157번째의 시험발사를 실시했다고 발표했다고 IHS Jane이 2015년 11월 11일(현지시간) 보도했다.

이번 시험발사는 2015년 11월 7일과 9일에 각각 실시되었으며 시험발사의 목적는 "시스템의 유효한 신뢰성과 정확도를 획득하고 그리고 발사 실행의 여러가지 요소들 확인하기 위함"이라고 미국의 핵무기를 통제하는 '미 전략사령부(STRATCOM:US Strategic Command)'는 밝혔다.

시험발사된 'Trident-II D5' 미사일에는 탄두가 장착되지 않았다.

발사시험에 동원된 플랫폼은 오하이오급(Ohio-class) 잠수함인 SSBN-737 USS Kentucky함이었다.

시험장소는 남부캘리포니아 해안에 위치한 '태평양 시험장(Pacific Test Range)'으로 '시험 및 시운전 작전(DASO:Demonstration and Shakedown Operation)'의 일부로 진행되었다.

'미 전략사령부(STRATCOM)에 따르면, 이번 '시험 및 시운전 작전(DASO)'의 최우선 목표는 전략핵잠수함의 승조원과 해당 무기시스템의 전투준비태세의 실제연습이었다.

잠수함에서 발사하는 전략핵 미사일인 'Trident-II D5'는 미해군에 1990년 대 배치된 무기이다.

3단 로켓이며, 고체연료 추진 미사일이며 미해군의 오하이오급 핵추진잠수함에 탑재되어 있다.

미해군은 현재 노후된 'Trident-II D5'의 수명연장 프로그램(life-extension programme)을 진행중이다.

Source: US Navy The US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) office has flown two Trident II D5 submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) for the weapon's 156th and 157th test firings since 1989.

The launches occurred separately on 7 and 9 November and were meant "to obtain valid reliability, accuracy, and performance factors", according to US Strategic Command (STRATCOM), which oversees the US nuclear arsenal.

Unarmed test missiles were launched from Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Kentucky (SSBN 737) as part of a Demonstration and Shakedown Operation (DASO) in the Pacific Test Range off the coast of Southern California.

"The primary objective of a DASO is to demonstrate the readiness of a SSBN's crew and weapon system," STRATCOM said.

The D5 was first deployed in 1990 and is a three-stage, solid-propellant missile carried by the navy's Ohio-class submarines. It is going through a life-extension programme.
